AMENDMENT NO. TWO (2) TO THE COMBINED Solicitation/RFQ FOR "HANGAR ONE
(1) ROOFING REPAIRS". Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in
their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject
solicitation/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The
purpose of this amendment is to answer the following listed questions,
and to change the scope of the statement of work as follows: 1.
Question: Is the contractor required to nail down the roofing plies
that are slipping prior to three (3) coursing? Answer: Yes, if the
roofing plies in the working area are slipping! 2. Question: Is the
contractor required to Three (3) course the entire length of expansion
joint flanges? Answer: Yes! 3. Question: Can the contractor attach his
own fall protection to the existing rooftop catwalk? Answer: If the
contractor wishes to use the catwalk for support, the contractor shall
have a structrual engineer evaluate the load capacity of the existing
catwalk and submit the results along with the fall protection plan for
approval by the Government. 4. Question: Does the contractor have to
perform a "Full Scale" abatement when removing and replacing sections
of the existing expansion joint? Answer: No. Abatement of asbestos
containing roofing membrane and mastic around the expansion joint shall
be in accordance with CAL-OSHA guidance on Non-friable Materials,
Appendix E. An abatement plan shall be submitted and approved by the
Government prior to commencement of abatement. 5. Question: Can the
contractor make use of the hangar elevator to bring materials up to the
roof? Answer: If the rooftop hoist is not operational by the start of
the project, the elevator will be used to take materials up to the
roof. Times and dates for use of the elevator shall be coordinated with
the Construction Manager and shall be used for material
loading/handling only. Workers shall use stairs to access the roof. SOW
scope changes: a. Paragraph 2.3, Page 3 reads: "Asphalt roof cement
shall contain no asbestos and shall conform to ASTM D 3019, Type III
(non-asbestos)." Change to: "Elastomeric roofing cement shall contain
no asbestos and shall conform to ASTM 4586, Type II, trowel grade." b.
Paragraph 2.5, Page 3: Delete this paragraph in its entirety! End The
due date for receipt of offers is not extended. Companies shall
provide the information stated in the Solicitation/RFQ posted on the
NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on August 19, 1998. Documents
related to this procurement are available over the Internet and are in
Microsoft Office Suite (Word 6.0, Excel 5.0, or PowerPoint 4.0) format
and reside on the World Wide Web (WWW) server which may be accessed
