The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security, seeks information for armored vehicles to completely defeat 7.62 x 39mm ammunition on all vertical surfaces. The application of armor will be on vehicles available on the commercial market. Examples of possible models of vehicles include the Chevrolet Suburban, Toyota Landcruiser, Ford Explorer, Jeep Cherokee, Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford Crown Victoria, and Lincoln Towncar. The ride, road handling, and safety of any vehicle shall not be degraded by any modifications related to the armoring. Options will include the armoring of the roof to defeat 7.62 x 39mm ammunition at a thirty degree angle, and floor armor to completely defeat M67 hand grenades. Other options include lights, sirens, intercoms, and ram bumpers. Pricing shall include purchasing the vehicle(s). Options will be included as an add-on to the schedule.
