combined synopsis/solicitation issued 6 August 1998. This extends the
closing date for receipt of proposals to 10 September 1998. It also
answers questions from potential offerors. Question 1. Is the Internet
service to be delivered to the address in Block 9 or Block 15 of the
solicitation? Answer 1. Neither. The address in Block 9 is the
Contracts office; deliver proposal here. The address in Block 15 is for
receipt of mailings. The demarcation point of the line is at: Naval
Undersea Warfare Center, Code 5422, Building 112, 112 Hunt Street,
Newport, RI 02841. Question 2. Please provide the NPA-NXX for the
identified location. Answer 2. 401/832. Question 3. Does the Government
have any other sites that will require Internet access and service
under this contract? Answer 3. No. Question 4. How many connections
will be required and at what bandwidth speed? Answer 4. The Government
requires a minimum of 1.54Mbps. The Government also requires the
option to purchase either 3Mbps or 4.5Mbps depending upon cost.
Question 5. Will the Government require Primary DNS or Secondary DNS
service? Answer 5. Neither. Question 6. Will the Government use an
existing IP addressing scheme or will a block of IP addresses be
required from the bidder? IF IP addresses are required, please specify
how many. Answer 6. The Government will use existing IP addresses.
Question 7. Please describe the make, model, and interfaces of the
existing AS89 core router. What does the "AS89" stand for? What is the
present operating system version? Is this unit AC or DC powered?
Please provide a network topology diagram of this existing
configuration. Answer 7. AS (Autonomous System) 89 core router is a
Cisco 7507 with 100bt interfaces. The software version is 11.1 and runs
an AC power. Question 8. Please describe the interface required to
connect the bidder-provided router to the local network (NUWCnet). Does
the Government have an existing connection plan for the AS89 router and
the bidder-provided router? Answer 8. 100bt. Question 9. The RFP
requires the vendor to provide "user documentation" and "training."
Will the Government please identify the required scope of the
documentation and training? Answer 9. Delete any requirements for
"training." The Government requires access to documentation to support
contractor-provided hardware (e.g., router) and/or software at the
Government site in case of "interaction" problems. Access to the
documentation may be by hard copy, through a Web-site, or in any
format. Question 10. Is the customer looking to Lease or Purchase the
Router equipment that is being requested in the RFP? Answer 10. Lease.
Question 11. What is the customer currently paying for the existing
service? Answer 11. $51,744/year. Question 12. In the pricing tables,
does the "line cost per month" refer to the local access? Answer 12.
End to end circuit cost. Question 13. Section 3.1 states that BGP
service and BGP transit advertisements are required. Will NUWC be
configuring their own BGP sessions? Answer 13. Yes. Question 14. Will
NUWCnet be multi-homed to other ISP's? Answer 14. Yes. [End.] A
