E-MAIL: Lisa Rea-Phillips, lisa.r.phillips1@jsc.nasa.gov. NASA/JSC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Space Integrated INS/GPS Units. JSC intends to purchase two units. One will be configured for the "core" system and must be flight qualified DTO unit. The other unit will be configured as a DTO unit for the CRV configuration. The first unit is to be delivered 12/31/98 and the second unit is due 10 months after receipt of the modification. NASA/JSC intends to purchase the items from Honeywell Space Systems in Clearwater Florida. This purchase is being made as a modification to an existing contract for SIGI units to be used on the Space Shuttle, the Space Station and the CRV. The units purchased must be compatible with existing units already in the inventory and therefore are being purchased from Honeywell. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. See Note 22. An Ombudsman has been appointed. See Internet Note "B". Interested firms have 15 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing to the identified point of contact, their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 15 days or without the required information will be considered nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
