The Naval Air Systems Command F-14 Tomcat Program intends to negotiate and award a sole source contract to Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMC) for the incorporation of a 40K laser in the LANTIRN targeting pod.. This effort will include nonrecurring and recurring tasks required to modify and test existing LANTIRN pods. As the designer, developer and manufacturer of the LANTIRN pod for F-14 aircraft, LMC is the only known source with the required knowledge and expertise of the LANTIRN configuration to successfully accomplish this effort within the required schedule parameters of the program.
