66 -- UPGRADE PACKAGES FOR PIXCELL SYSTEMS SOL RFQ-NCI-80235-NV DUE 092498 POC Debbie Moore, Purchasing Agent 301-402-4509, Todd Cole, Contracting Officer 301-402-4509 The National Cancer Institute, Division of Clinical Sciences intends to procure from Arcturus Engineering Inc., 2630 Walsh Ave, Santa Clara, CA 9505, 3 Upgrade Packages for PixCell Laser Microdissection Sytem (LCM). The upgrades are for existing Arcturus PixCell Systems. The unique features of the upgrade are: 1) precise single cell transfers; 2) Easy extractions of a large group of cells with continuous laser fire mode; 3) Microprocessor-controlled electronics for accurate laser parameter control; 4) Imaging merging, translation and rotation; and 5) Optional fluorescence imaging upgrade. Improved functions of the upgrade are: 1) Variable transfer sizes (<7.5 um, 15, um, 30 um); 2) Improved vacuum chuck for slide hold-down and reduced sample cross-contamination; 3) Improved capping station; and 4) Reduced lab bench footprint. Since the current LCMs were purchased from Arcturus, Arcturus Engineering Inc, is the only known source that can provide the aforementioned upgrades to make NCI's current PixCell LCMs, Pixcell II. This upgrade includes a one year warranty. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, they may submit a statement of capabilities. Information furnished must be in writing and must contain sufficient detail, to allow NCI to determine if the upgrade is comparable, and can meet all the capabilities of the requirements, including compatibility to the existing LCMs. Capability statements must be received in the Contracting Office by 3:00 PM EST on September 24, 1998.
