NASA/MSFC plans to issue an Invitation for Bids (IFB) for MODIFICATIONS FOR OPTICAL FABRICATION AND METROLOGY ACTIVITIES DEVELOPMENTAL PROCESSES LAB, BLDG. 4487. THIS PROJECT CONSISTS OF PROVIDING LABOR, EQUIPMENT, AND MATERIALS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF TWO SINGLE-STORY ADDITIONS TO THE WEST END OF B-WING OF BLDG 4487,ADDITIONS TOTAL APPROXIMATELY 3,870 SQUARE FEET, AND AN ELEVATOR IN THE BC CORRIDOR. ADDITIONS OF 2,910 SQUARE FEET OF LABORATORY SPACE IS PROVIDED ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE BUILDING, WITH 960 SQUARE FEET OF STORAGE ADDED TO THE NORTH SIDE OF THE BUILDING. EXTERIOR PAVEMENT, UTILITIES, AND DRAINAGE STRUCTURES ARE TO BE RELOCATED AND/OR DEMOLISHED TO COMPLETE CONSTRUCTION. ALL REQUEST FOR IFB PACKAGES MUST BE IN WRITING CONTAINING THE COMPLETE COMPANY NAME, ADDRESS, AND PHONE/FAX NUMBERS. ALL REQUEST FOR IFB PACKAGES MUST CONTAIN A CASHIERS CHECK IN THE AMOUNT OF $25.00, MADE PAYABLE TO "NASA CASHIER". AWARD OF THIS PROJECT IS CONTINGENT UPON THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS. The order of magnitudefor the procurement is BETWEEN $500,000 AND $1,000,000 and the effort shall be completed within 335 calendar days after notice to proceed. This procurement is part of the Small Business Competitiveness Demonstration Program. The SIC Code and small busines size standard for this procurement are 1541 and $17.0M, respectively. The anticipated release date of the IFB is on or about SEPTEMBER 21, 1998 with an anticipated offer closing date of on or about NOVEMBER 4, 1998. The provisions and clauses in the solicitation are those in effect through FAC 97 -- 07. The firm date for receipt of bids will be stated in the IFB.
