(217)-431-6538 Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Danville, Illinois is
seeking an architect/engineering firm to prepare 100% complete
construction drawings and specifications and shall provide construction
period services for project #550-302. Project design work will include:
separation of existing 'essential' electrical systems serving bldgs 58,
98, 101, 102, & 103 into 'equipment' and 'emergency' (i.e. life safety
& critical) systems in accordance with project #550-98-008
recommendations and NFPA 70 (NEC) article 517.60; correct NFPA 99 and
NEC deficiencies/violations as documented from the recently completed
project #550-98-008, "Inspect, Test, & Adjust Electrical System";
incorporate designs developed as part of project 550-98-008 to improve
power factor; replace main switchgear, main distribution panels and
sub-panels, motor control centers, and dry-type transformers serving
bldgs 58, 98, 101, 102, 103 & 104; replace select main distribution
panels and sub-panels in bldg 98; install station-wide energy
management system; install emergency generator system for bldg 64/72;
lead paint and asbestos abatement shall be included in the design, if
their presence dictates removal/containment. The proposed contract is
unrestricted and competitive negotiations shall be used to award
contract. The geographical limitation for consideration is within a
150-mile radius of the city limits of Danville, Illinois. Any
submissions from outside of this area will not be considered. The
estimated cost range of the construction project that shall follow is
between $2,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. All work under this contract,
exclusive of Government review time, shall be completed within 180
calendar days. The following evaluation factors shall be used in the
source selection process to identify the most highly qualified sources:
a) specialized experience and technical competence in the type of work
to be performed; b) specific experience and qualifications of
personnel proposed for assignment to the project and record of working
together as a team; c) professional capacity of the firm in the
designated geographic areas to perform the work within time
limitations; d) past record of performance on contracts with the
Department of Veterans Affairs; e) geographic location and facilities
of the working office which would provide the professional services and
familiarity with the area in which the project is located; f)
demonstrate success in cost effective design and achieving energy
efficiency in facility design and in meeting design schedules and
construction cost limitations; g) demonstrate quality of design and
technical services provided on other similar projects. Interested

"Architect-Engineer and Related Services Questionnaire" and Standard
Form 255 "Architect-Engineer and Related Services Questionnaire for
