The Library of Congress intends to issue delivery orders against an existing Basic Ordering Agreement to renew subscriptions with The American Chemical Society, Chemical Abstracts Service for the continued use and access of their STN International database by The US Army, Chemical and Biological Defense Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD (ADEV) and NIH, National Inst. of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases, Bethesda, MD (NIAM). The STN International database is a joint, cooperative, international, online, information retrieval service offered by the American Chemical Society through its Chemical Abstracts Service division, the Fachinformationszentrum Karlsruhe (FIZ Karlsruhe) and the Japan Information Center of Science and Technology (JICST). With STN, searchers have access to over 100 scientific and technical databases from database suppliers in many different countries. STN offers information in a variety of areas including chemistry, engineering, math, physics, geology, biotechnology, thermodynamics, energy, patents, and materials science. STN's bibliographic, structure, numeric, and full- text databases are all searchable using the same Messenger command language. Services will be continued through September 30, 1999.
