NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for CDZNTE Detectors, size 29.9MM X 26.9MM X 4MM, Tolerance +/- 0.1 MM on all dimensions. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Imarad Imaging Systems LTD of Israel on a sole source basis. The GSFC requires large pieces of CDZNTE material for the Focal Plane Hard X-Ray Sensor for the Constellation X Program. This material must be perfectly uniform in X-Ray performance with no crystal defects or grain boundaries. Imarad Imaging is the only company in the world which provides the high quality CDZNTE material needed for the GSFC requirement. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. See Note 22. A determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
