The Social Security Administration (SSA) plans to issue a solicitation to acquire Medical Consultant (MC) Services in the specialty of Speech/Language Pathology. The services will be performed at SSA's Atlanta office located at 61 Forsyth Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30303. The contractor's responsibilities will include: providing oral and/or written consultations resulting from reviews of SSA disability case files; consulting with SSA's medical policy staff related to the development of SSA disability policies; training other MC contractors and other personnel; working with Government and non-government agencies and/or medical or non-medical personnel that have related interests in providing input regarding SSA programs and its objectives. There will be no contact with patients. The period of performance shall be one year or date of award, whichever is later through December 31, 1999, with provisions for four 1-year renewable option periods. The solicitation number is RFP-99-7604-05 and is scheduled for release on or about November 9, 1998, with proposals due 30 days later.
