davidj@lanl.gov, davidj@lanl.gov. The University of California, which
operates the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) under contract to
the Department of Energy, solicits interest from companies interested
in obtaining LANL exclusive license rights to reproduce, distribute,
maintain and market a safety video and paper on "Pressure Effects and
Deformation of Waste Containers" herein after referred to as
"Technology". The Technology is used to instruct fire and safety
personnel in inspection, testing and preventative safety involving
pressurized waste containers. The Technology communicates that the safe
discovery and mitigation of a pressurized drum can make the difference
between a minor incident with limited and controlled consequences and
a major one with the potential loss of life and significant property
damage. With information from the training video and paper, Fire
department HazMat, hazardous device teams and other emergency
responders can make educated decisions during buldging drum incidents.
Interested licensee organizations must demonstrate prior professional
experience in the fields of environment, safety and health training
materials distribution, subject matter technical expertise and fire
safety training. Evidence of related training material inventories
and/or publications must be provided. Any organization interested in
licensing the above mentioned Technology must respond with a statement
of intent describing the organization's technical expertise,
distribution, marketing and service capabilities, financial resources
(e.g., annual report or corporate resume) and commercial motivation.
Upon receipt of a license applicant statement, LANL will determine
whether applicant will be selected for license negotiations based on
such statement. The statement of intent to license must be dated within
30 calendar days of the date of this notice. For questions or
clarifications contact David J. Salazar, Licensing Executive, Los
Alamos National Laboratory, (505) 665-6697 or email davidj@lanl.gov.
