intends to award one or more Indefinite Quantity Architect/Engineer
contracts for design, document preparation and contract administration
of individual repair and alteration projects at USPS owned and/or
leased facilities throughout the Southern portion of Alabama. The
contract for architect-engineer services will be for two years with a
guaranteed minimum amount of $5,000. The contract may be renewed for
three one-year periods. Contractually, work orders for any one project
cannot exceed $100,000 although most individual work orders will be
less than $20,000. The total contract amount cannot exceed $2,500,000.
The primary user of this contract will be the District Office located
in Birmingham, AL. This contract is to cover the southern portion of
the State of Alabama; however, it may be used occasionally within other
areas of the southeastern United States. Firms that have the
qualifications to perform the services described herein are invited to
submit two (2) copies each ofcompleted SF 255 "Architect-Engineer and
Related Services Questionnaire for Specific Project" and SF 254
"Architect-Engineer and Related Services Questionnaire" for itself and
for each of its proposed consultants to the office shown above not
later than December 11, 1998. The selection will be conducted with the
combined use of the submitted SF 255 and SF 254. Interested firms with
more than one office must indicate on its SF 255 the staffing
composition of the office in which the work will be performed. Firms
must have a minimum of two registered architects, have a minimum of two
years Autocadd experience, and must be able to provide the services of
at least one of each of the following disciplines (each registered in
Alabama): mechanical, electrical, structural, and civil engineering.
Any of the engineering disciplines may be provided through outside
consultant firms. Consideration will be given to firms responding to
this advertisement in accordance with foregoing requirements in the
following order of preference: (1) within the southern portion of the
State of Alabama (from an imaginary line drawn between Birmingham and
Montgomery); (2) State of Alabama; and (3) out of state. There is no
restriction on the geographical location of consultants. Firms must
provide proof of or demonstrate the ability to obtain errors and
omissions insurance, minimum of $200,000 per claim, with submittals
(two copies). It is prohibited to pay any fee, commission, percentage,
or brokerage fee to any person or firm contingent upon, or resulting
from, award of these contract. No other general notification of this
project will be made. Submittals will not be retained or returned. This
