Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) will conduct its first annual
Agency-Wide Forecast to Industry highlighting projected FY99
contracting opportunities supporting agency-wide programs. DTRA was
established 1 October 1998 as a result of Defense Secretary Cohen's
November 1997 Defense Reform Initiative (DRI). It combined the former
Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA), the Defense Technology Security
Administration (DTSA), the On-Site Inspection Agency (OSIA), and
elements of the Office of the Secretary of Defense Staff. The Forecast
will focus on the Agency's mission to reduce the threat to the United
States and its allies from nuclear, biological, chemical (NBC), other
special weapons, and conventional weapons through the execution of
technology security activities, cooperative threat reduction (CTR)
programs, arms control treaty monitoring and on-site inspection, force
protection, NBC defense, and counter proliferation (CP). In addition,
DTRA supports the U.S. nuclear deterrent and provides technical
support on weapons of mass destruction (WMD) matters to the DoD
components. Agency Director, Dr. Jay Davis, will present the keynote
address, followed by the panel discussion, "The Agency Programs in
Broad Strokes," moderated by Maj Gen Frank Moore, DTRA Deputy Director,
Agency's Senior Managers will participate on the panel. The morning
session will also include an overview of DTRA business practices.
Directorate Level Forecasts will be presented in the afternoon. Both
morning and afternoon sessions will provide detailed information
regarding DTRA's programs and technology needs, invormation on specific
projects, milestones, projected contract periods, and planned RFP
release dates. The Forecast will be hend on 16 December 1998 at the
Marriott Crystal Forum (affiliated with the Crystal city Marriott),
1999 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, VA, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00
p.m. Conference check-in will be from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Lunch will
not be provided, but numerous eating establishments are within walking
