66 -- CLASS III GLOVE BOX SOL 1999N00036 DUE 121798 POC Grace White, Contract Specialist, (404) 842-6553 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/National Center for Infectious Disease (CDC/NCID) intends to award a sole source contract to the Baker Company, Sanford, ME, for one (1) custom-made Class III glove box. The equipment is for use in handling unknown, potentially hazardous samples/specimens in a BSL-3 laboratory. The glove box shall be constructed of stainless steel and consist of two (2) chambers which will allow packages to be introduced into chamber 1 for unpacking followed by transfer of specimens to Chamber 2 for specimen manipulation. The two chambers shall be separated by a guillotine-type door, with access to either chamber through a dunk tank and a door. This procurement is being conducted under Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP) for a commercial item. Interested firms have 15 days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in writing their qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the 15 days or without the required information will be deemed nonresponsive to the synopsis and will not be considered.
