USDA Forest Service, Southwestern, Eastern, Rockymountain Regions intend to contract for Contractor-owned, Contractor/Government-operated Type III (light) helicopters for wildland firefighting initial attack and support missions. Contractor shall provide helicopter, pilot(s), except when Government pilot may be provided, mechanic, service truck and driver for transporting personnel and cargo for Forest Fire Operations, involving low level missions in mountainous terrain on hot days with internal and external loads. Helicopter will also be used for helirappelling. During the performance periods (between February 1 and September 30) helicopters will be for exclusive use of the Government. Helicopters will be based at Forest Service bases in Arizona, New Mexico, Arkansas and Montana. Term of contract will be base period with two option periods.
