gmacmaho@email.usps.gov. The U.S. Postal Service is soliciting
proposals for Technical Sales Support to help mailers who want to use
the Postal Service's Delivery Confirmation service. This will be a
6-month contract with three 6-month options. The successful offer must
have 5 or more years direct customer technical-sales experience in a
technical center or help-desk environment. Support personnel will
provide phone support and make on-site visits Monday thru Friday from
8am to 8pm EST. They must also correspond through e-mail with
customers. The personnel selected to work under this contract must (1)
have exceptional customer-service skills and be able to communicate
verbally and in writing with customers; (2) have direct experience
using FTP, dial-up (DOS and Windows-based), and Internet (browser and
command line); file layouts and composition, and file naming
conventions; (3) have a basic knowledge of the EDI process; (4) be
self-starting and able to provide analytical support in problem
solving; (5) have a basic understanding of data bases, mainframes, and
connectivity with LAN/WAN, and (6) have experience with Microsoft Word
and EXCEL. The contract will initially require at least 10 people (and
could increase to a maximum of 20) to provide the services. The 10
will receive 24-40 hours of training immediately after contract award
(subsequent personnel will be trained by the contractor). Technical
support will begin the week after training. The contractor will be
required to provide: (1) an automated customer support phone system
(ACD or equivalent) to distribute calls to support personnel (the phone
system must have call monitoring and be available to the Delivery
Confirmation staff person on-site); (2) a contact management
application to record and track customer calls; (3) office space for
the support personnel, (4) a desk and workstation for a Postal Service
employee from the Delivery Confirmation program office, (5) computer
equipment and peripherals for support personnel, and (6) direct access
to a facsimile machine. The solicitation is expected to be issued on
