The Navy requires maintenance support (hardware and software) on scanning auger model 670XI for a one year period, with option for two additional years. This system is used to identify elements in the top 10 atomic layers of a samples surface. This service is being solicited on a sole source basis to Physical Electronics, 6509 Flying Cloud Drive, Eden Prairie, MN 55344, as they are the manufacturer of this equipment and hold proprietary drawings. The contractor shall perform at least one annual preventative maintenance visit and testing of the equipment, and if so needed, shall return the equipment to its original operating specifications. It is anticipated that a formal Request for Quote will not be issued. See Numbered Notes 22 and 26.
