1999 (FY '99) The Transit Development Corporation's Board of Directors
met in Washington, D.C., on October 29-30, 1998, and selected the
following new projects for the Transit Cooperative Research Program in
fiscal year 1999: A- 21, Practices of Innovative and High-Productivity
Transit Services in Rural and Small Urban Areas; A-22, Simulators as an
Effective Training Tool to Reduce Bus Accidents; A-23, Implementation
Guidelines for Bus Rapid Transit Systems; B-19, Providing Transit
Options for Older Americans; B-20, Building Market Share for Public
Transportation; B-21, Effective Approaches to Meeting Rural Intercity
Bus Transportation Needs. Preliminary scopes of work for each project
are available on the Internet at http://www2.nas.edu/trbcrp under
"Anticipated Projects." Project Statements inviting proposals will be
available at the same Internet site beginning around April 1999. You
may register electronically at the same site for notification of
