The work required includes the removing and salvaging of existing 4" x 8" x 16" concrete masonry units (CMU) laid dry in 4" courses in an existing Portal approximately 11' x 14' x 12' in a concrete wall of Exposure Room #4 of the Reactor facility within Building 45, AFRRI: the removal of an existing wood platform covering a 20' x 20'pit and the in-fill of the 6' deep pit with the salvaged CMU; the construction of new 24" and 48" thick, mortar jointed, reinforced masonry walls: placing of concrete topping at new exit ramps and above the existing in-filled pit area, installation of two steel plated ramps, painting of new and existing walls, installation of two sets of steel doors, minor electrical, plumbing and miscellaneous associated work. This project is being solicited under simplified acquisition to all interested firms. The estimated cost range is between $25,000 and $100,000. Bid and performance bonds are not required; however, a Payment bond will be required after award as specified in the solicitation. Quotes are due February 2, 1999 at 2:00 P.M. at which time they will be privately recorded. Results will be made of the contract award upon receipt of a separate written request.
