Pittsburgh District is interested in procuring archaeological
monitoring of construction excavation associated with flood wall
replacement at the Johnstown Local Flood protection project (LFPP),
Johnstown (Cambria County), Pennsylvania. Archaeological monitoring is
required at three wall segments in Unit 4 of the LFPP along the Little
Conemaugh River. The successful contractor will monitor construction
excavation activities in the three specified areas to identify the
presence of any potential archaeological deposits, and if deposits are
present, to evaluate their significance and perform data recovery of
significant resources. This work also entails a pre-construction site
meeting, a reporting requirement, and curation of any recovered
artifacts. The period of performance will be from 1 May 1999 or date of
award, whichever is later, through 30 November 2001. Written requests
for Solicitation DACW59-99-R-0004 shall be forwarded to the Contract
Specialist. Release of the solicitation is anticipated for February 10,
1999. Receipt of proposals will be 30 days from the date of issuance of
solicitation. This procurement is 100% set aside for small business.
