It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to procure professional support services for the shifting, reshelving, and cleaning of the General Collection Serials and oversized documents. There are approximately 12,000 to 13,000 General Collection Serials and titles that need to be relocated and interfiled with the serials collection currently stored. The oversized serials shall be shelved in a separate location designed for oversized items. The vendor will perform the following tasks: (1) remove and reshelve oversize volumes; (2) remove all serial titles published during the years 1985 through 1989, interfile and shelve in shelf list order; (3) space shelves for replacement of items removed to be microfilmed and document delivery; (4) shelf read all tiles and volumes (1871 through 1989) during the entire shifting process to correct any misshelving; (5) remove all duplicate volumes; (6) clean and vacuum bound volumes and shelves; (7) perform other shift-related task as directed.
