Federal Bureau of Prisons, Southeast Regional, Atlanta, Georgia is
soliciting the services of a qualified medical entity located with a
seventy (50) mile radius of FCI Edgefield, South Carolina for the
provision of comprehensive medical services. The services will be
provided to inmates incarcerated at the Federal Correction Institution.
The hospital shall make available on a nondiscriminatory basis,
inpatient and outpatient services, in a manner consistent with the
medical needs of the patient in accordance with medical standards for
quality and cost-effective patient care. The preferred payment
methodology for these services (which will receive preference in both
award and patient referrals) is the medicare reimbursement
methodologies in effect at the time services are rendered. All services
(usually outpatient) not covered by Medicare, shall be charges as low
or lower than those charged to the hospital's most favored customer for
comparable quantities under similar terms and conditions. Hospitals are
requested to contact the Contract officer listed in this notice. All
requests for solicitation packages or information must be in writing
and include the RFP number (RFP 462-0011). No telephone requests are
allowed. The estimated issue date for the (Request for Proposal)
solicitations will be available on or around 02/08/99, with an
anticipated receipt of proposal date of April 27, 1999. The contract
will include a base year not to exceed twelve months and four (4) one
year option renewal periods. The estimated inpatient days are as
follows: Base year minimum 50, maximum 500 inpatient days. Option year
one (1) minimum 50, maximum 500 inpatient days, Option year two (2)
minimum 50, maximum 500 inpatient days, Option year three (3) minimum
50, maximum 500 inpatient days, and Option year four (4) minimum 50 and
