Mike_Minor@stricom.army.mil. MILES 2000 Follow On Contract Market
Survey. The U. S. Army Simulation, Training and Instrumentation Command
(STRICOM) is seeking information from industry concerning the
availability of non-developmental training devices for live force on
force training capability. This includes training devices for vehicles,
individuals and anti armor weapons whose designs are based on Multiple
Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) design. The purpose of this
notice is to determine the technology and production capability
currently available or being developed or produced by industry.
Information received will be used as one of several factors in
determining the acquisition strategy for a potential competitive
solicitation for the follow on contract for the replacement MILES
systems (currently the MILES 2000 program). STRICOM is requesting data
on training enhancements such as Shoot Through Obscuration MILES
(STOM), position location, precision gunnery applications, indirect
fire, casualty data, new technologies, and features that enhance ease
of use, training fidelity, and supportability. We also seek
compatibility with existing weapons platforms and ability to easily
integrate with new systems under development. As a part of this study,
STRICOM will study the availability of existing technology for force
on force indirect fire weapon training devices such as the MK-19 and
Objective Individual Combat Weapon (OICW) System. Brief white papers
describing vendor products and technical approaches will be accepted
within 30 days of the date of this announcement. Request you
distinguish between products that now exist in hardware or are near
production and those that require additional research and development.
Discuss any issues or recommendations regarding compatibility with
PMT-90-S002A, Standard for MILES Communication Code Structure, and
MCC97. The information provided shall pertain to this notice only and
must be unclassified, concise, and specific. The information contained
herein is for planning purposes only and does not constitute a Request
for Proposal. No additional information is available, respondents will
not be notified of the evaluation of the information they provided,
