COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF MARCH 4,1999 PSA#2295FT KNOX CONTRACTORS' OPPORTUNITY DAY -- A multimillion dollar market
exists in the Commonwealth of Kentucky that many businesses have not
yet discovered. It's a market that can be "golden" once businesses
learn how to access it. This unique market is Fort Knox. Each year, Ft.
Knox awards large and small businesses more than $100 million in
contracts for everything from construction jobs to paper towels. The
problem is, many Kentucky businesses are missing out on these contracts
simply because they do not know how to market themselves to Ft. Knox or
how Ft. Knox's procurement system works. As a result, the Kentucky
Cabinet for Economic Development has joined with Fort Knox, the U.S.
Small Business Administration, the Kentucky Procurement Assistance
Program, the Office of U.S. Congressman Ron Lewis, Elizabethtown Small
Business Development Center, and the U.S. Department of Defense to
present Fort Knox Contracting Opportunities Day. This conference will
be held Monday, April 12, from 8:15 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., E.S.T at the
Leaders Club, Ft. Knox, Kentucky. The Fort Knox Contracting
Opportunities Day offers attendees the opportunity to meet one-on-one
with buyers from Ft. Knox and learn about current bid openings. They'll
also can met with other buyers from more federal and state agencies and
discover new ways to market their business to the U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers, Defense Supply Center Philadelphia, General Services
Administration, Army Air Force Exchange Service, the Commonwealth of
Kentucky, and others. Various information booths will be open and many
programs explained. Attendees can also take advantage of the workshops
on doing business with Ft. Knox, a roundtable of experts from Defense
Supply Center Philadelphia, GSA, Non Appropriated Funds and the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers. Other workshop topics include how to target
Defense and other Government Contracting Opportunities for Kentucky
companies and a special workshop to provide information on the small
business programs design to help small business and other companies
tosell to government agencies. Registration fees for the Fort Knox
Contracting Opportunities Day are $25 per person. To register, call the
Elizabethtown Small Business Development Center at (502) 765-6737.
