This is a modification to the combined synopsis/solicitation number N00173-99-R-JR02, issued by the Naval Research Laboratory(NRL) on 01 March 1999, for the acquisition of engineering design and installation of a blown optical fiber (BOF) network aboard its full-scale fire research and damage control RDT&E platform, the ex-USS Shadwell, located in Mobile, AL. This modification is issued to notify interested parties that the Government will conduct a site-visit on-board the ex-USS SHADWELL, scheduled to be held on 01 April 1999 in Mobile, AL. Clearances are not required. Directions to the Shadwell's shore facility may be found at: http://www.chemistry.nrl.navy.mil/dcarm/shadwelldirections.html . Due to special transportation arrangements, attendence is limited to two(2) persons per company. Offerors shall arrive at the designated site NO LATER THAN (NLT) noon, 12:00pm for transport to the ship. All interested parties shall notify Mr. Jerry Riles, NRL Contract Specialist, in writing if they plan to attend the site-visit. Notifications shall be received AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, but NLT 3:00pm on 29 March 1999, and shall include company name and name(s) of representatives planned to attend. Responses to all questions will be provided via modification to this synopsis/soliciation at a date following the site-visit and at least fifteen(15) days prior to the RFP closing date. The closing date for receipt of proposals is changed to 4:00pm E.S.T., 31 April 1999.
