The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intents to negotiate with Dr. Frederick H. Mies, 11712 Smoketree Road, Rockville, MD 20854, on a sole source basis to provide services to develop theoretical models, analysis and Fortran computer codes relating to collisions of cold, trapped atoms. This sole source procurement is under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b), Soliciting from a Single Source, due to the fact that these services are a continuation of work started under a previous contract and will ensure the continuity of essential information. Simplified acquisition procedures (request for quote) shall be used to make the award. The anticipated award date is April 2, 1999. This notice is not a request for quotations. However, all expressions of interest received by 3:00 p.m. local time on April 2, 1999 will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed purchase order based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. A solicitation document is not available.
