Sought for Providing Laundry Services including Respirator Cleaning and
Repairs. Fluor Daniel Fernald, Inc., a prime contractor to the
Department of Energy, is hereby seeking qualified sources to perform
laundry services including respirator cleaning and repairs in support
of the Fernald Environmental Management Project. As part of the DOE
mission of restoration and remediation, FDF is responsible for
providing modesty clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE) for
personnel. "Modesty clothing" is defined as coveralls, T-shirts,
socks, bras, women's panties, men's boxer shorts, winter coats,
insulated coveralls, thermal underwear, and towels; "PPE" is defined as
respirators, nose cups, and anti-contamination clothing (anti-Cs) which
includes coveralls, rubber shoe covers, cloth booties, cloth hood,
cloth skull cap, and lab coats. All PPE shall be considered potentially
contaminated and shall be laundered, cleaned, reconditioned, surveyed,
and packaged for shipment separately from the modesty clothing.
Primary contaminants of concern include uranium and its associated
progeny, asbestos, and lead. FDF anticipates providing the following
estimated quantities of laundry for processing twice weekly: 8,736
pieces of Anti-Cs; 13,053 pieces of modesty clothing; and 737
respirators and nose cups. The Contractor shall provide all materials
and equipment for laundering, surveying, packaging, and shipping. The
Contractor shall provide all transportation between the FEMP and the
Contractor's facility(ies). The qualification (pass/fail) requirements
are listed in Attachment A, Qualification (Pass/Fail ) Requirements

Request for Proposal by mid May, 1999. Comments/questions are
encouraged. Attachment A Qualification (Pass/Fail) Requirements Items
1-7 below are qualification (pass/fail) criteria. The offeror must
provide evidence that they have obtained Items 1-7 below or provide
evidence on how and when they will obtain the following Items 1-7
below. These items must be obtained prior to award. FDF anticipates
contract award by September 30, 1999. 1. A certified "satisfactory"
Department of Transportation (DOT) rating or a letter of
non-inspection. 2. Proof of a registered motor carrier identification
number. 3. Proof of a Hazardous Material Transporters License. 4. Proof
of at least one DOT Hazardous Materials trained individual working
under this contract. . 5. Copy of contractor's NRC License or state
agreement. 6. Copy of EPA Letter indicating the receiving unit(s)
inclusion on the list of sites approved to receive CERCLA waste. 7.
