The Inter-island Ferry Authority (IFA), an Alaskan Port Authority, is soliciting proposals from a naval architecture or marine engineering firms. Anticipated work includes * Planning, designing, and engineering a prototype passenger-vehicle ferry for service in Southeast Alaska; * Preparation of detailed construction contract plans and specifications, bid advertisements and related bidding documents, construction contract documents; * Assisting IFA respond to bidder inquiry, review bids, negotiate and award construction contract; * Supervising construction, outfitting, sea trials, delivery and warranty maintenance, repair or replacement as owner representative; and * Performing related services. Anticipated work is divided into four phases. IFA anticipates Phase I work beginning July 1, 1999. Phase II work shall be completed by November 30, 1999. IFA will affirmatively ensure that it will afford Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) full opportunity to submit proposals and will not discriminate against DBEs on the grounds of race, color, national origin or sex in consideration of an award of contract pursuant to this request for proposals.
