Biological Chemical Command intends to conduct negotiations and award
a Purchase Order using Simplified Acquisition Procedures, to Woods Hold
Oceanographic Institute, Woods Hole, MA on the basis of other than full
and open competition. The period of performance of the anticipated
purchase order is one year. The services to be procured are a
continuation of in-depth studies of the microbial biodegradation of
polymeric plastic substitutes in the marine environment to help
identify materials which may be used as substitutes for conventional
plastics and which will be microbialy mineralized in the marine
environment with no harmful effects. Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute
possesses a constant supply of flowing fresh seawater, required NRC
licenses to work with radioisotopes and employees with those required
licenses as well. Woods Hold Oceanographic Institute also possesses the
capability to place samples in deep water conditions on offshore
moorings. The personnelat Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute are
experienced in this type of research and possess the necessary
equipment to perform the studies required. Responses to this
