The Government requires a Bright Apex 504 measuring machine. This requirement includes software database structure and Windows NT interface that runs within AutoCad R14 and Mechanical Desktop 3.0, and features the following: 1) ability to download 3D cad files to create an interactive template that is graphically represented; 2) select the probe head configuration graphically and automatically; 3) automated alignment of the actual part to the best fit conditions of the 3 dimensional CAD representation; 4) ability to mouse click on any graphical part feature to automatically indicate an actual measurement feature desired such as circle, line, plate, etc.; 5) display the inspection results on the graphical representation of the part and diagnosis dimensional deviations graphically; 6) feature recognition without a CAD model using "best guess" algorithms that allows for part programming without a CAD model; 7) thin wall measuring capability that includes commands for automatic feature search, real time 3Dprobe compensation and automatic compensation for part variability; and 8) scanning capability that automatically extracts the nominal values of a surface and the correct vectors for efficient probing. This requirement is being solicited on a brand name only basis, Bright Apex 504, manufactured by Mitutoyo, Japan. (See numbered Note 22).
