Bonner, 440.838.6091 The Louis Stokes Cleveland, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Brecksville, Ohio, propose to enter into a non-competitive commercial supply/service contract with the CBR Laboratory, 800 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02114 to generate and provide C1 INH mutants substituted at amino acid number 443 and provide other mutants such as, amino acid substitutions at amino acid numbers 442, 441 and/ or other positions in the ascending limb of the reactive center loop of the C1 INH molecule. Function is defined as inhibition of target proteases (C1s, C1r, kallikrein, factor XIIa and kallkrein) relative to inhibition by cloned normal C1 INH. The contract period is Date of Award through June 30, 2000. The Standard Industrial Classification Code is 8999 and the Small Business size standard is $5.0 million. The determination to enter into a non-competitive contract is due to this research being unique in nature and there is only one (1) known laboratory that generates these mutants. The nature of this procurement is as such that the CBR Laboratory is the only responsible source who can meet our needs and no other supplies or services will satisfy the Research Departments requirements.
