Rankin at (703)814-4914 The Federal Bureau of Investigation intends to acquire on a sole source basis twenty-five FiberPlex, Inc., Model TDU-3000 telephone security isolation units. The units must provide protection for phone lines, which enter areas where invasive techniques may be used to access room audio, by way of a telephone line or instrument. The equipment's transformer couples the two wire line, to the instrument, to separate the receive and transmit voice paths. Outgoing voice path is grounded when the phone in on-hook. The outgoing line side is open when the phone in on-hook. The off-hook detect and ring detect signal lines are opto isolated from the telephone. The outgoing voice path bandwidth is limited with active acoustic filters.
