Wolfe, Jr., 304/285-5883 THIS IS A COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION FOR COMMERCIAL ITEMS PREPARED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FORMAT IN SUBPART 12.6, AS SUPPLEMENTED WITH ADDITIONAL INFORMATION INCLUDED IN THIS NOTICE. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT CONSTITUTES THE ONLY SOLICITATION; BIDS ARE BEING REQUESTED AND A WRITTEN SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ISSUED. This notice is issued as Amendment #001 to Request for Quotation No. RP99-034 issued in the CBD on June 25, 1999, as Submission No. 347359. The government is providing the following answers to questions received in response to the solicitation for the flow vision PIV system. 1. Brief description of the flow apparatus and process. Answer: Flow analysis of particles. 2. Desired measurement results for the PIV System. Answer: Show the particle pattern and velocity profile. 3. What is the flowing substance (air, water, gas liquid, etc.) Answer: Air mostly (later on may be liquid). 4. What is its velocity? Answer: Between 1 to 10 m/sec. 5. Particle sizes and distribution. Answer: 5 micron to 1 mm. 6. Flow containment device? (closed pipe, duct, wind tunnel, etc.) . Answer: For the current project 4' x 4' x 8' of plexiglass box. 7. Size of flow field to be imaged? Answer: 6" x 6" is preferred. 8. How is the measurement data to be collected, stored, processed, reported, presented, etc.? Answer: stored. 9. Measurement cycle time allowed? Answer: Nnot more than 1000 HZ in this project. 10. Illumination techniques to be employed? Answer: White light (Xenon light source). With issuance of the clarifications above, the due date for receipt of offers is extended to 2:00 p.m. local prevailing time on July 22, 1999. All other terms and conditions contained in the original announcement/solicitation cited above remain unchanged and in full force and effect.
