In general, the project is to convert a facility containing two jet engine test cells from water cooled systems to air cooled systems and incidental related work. The work will be phased since portions of the facility must remain operational throughout the duration of the construction. Demolition work includes, but is not limited to, the removal of steel augmenters and exhaust systems, scrubber systems, quench water systems, well water pumps, asbestos-containing gasket material, floor and wall construction, coiling fire doors, thermocouple grids, monitoring systems and plumbing connections to an existing cooling tower system. Renovation work includes, but is not limited to, stripping, refinishing, modifying and relocating of steel turning vanes, epoxy injecting of exterior cracks in concrete walls and soffits, pressure washing and sealing of all exterior concrete surfaces and pressure washing of concrete exhaust shaft interiors. New work includes, but is not limited to the installation of perforated stainless steel clad ceramic wool insulated augmenter and flue liner systems, sound atttentuation panels and baffles, installation of cementitious roof crickets and waterproof membranes, installation of new interior steps and of automated exterior coiling doors with computerized control systems, mounted motorized hoist systems, installation of rain leaders, modifications to existing drainage system within exhaust stacks and installation of new temperature monitoring systems. -- Following tentative dates apply: Issue invitations 8/99, Open bids 9/99, Complete contract 9/00. -- The proposed contract is unrestricted. -- Estimated cost is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00 Posted 07/15/99 (W-SN354522).
