Tel:(703)875-6990 The U.S. Department of State (DoS), the Office of
Acquisition, proposes an extension of existing Contract No.
S-OPRAQ-94-D-0573 with Motorola, Inc., Hanover, Maryland, for
additional six (6) months through March 30, 2000. The existing contract
is an indefinite quantity/indefinite delivery type and expires on
September 30, 1999. The extension is necessary to provide the DoS the
capability to purchase Land Mobile Radio (LMR) equipment without delay
for the Overseas Wireless Modernization (OWM). The OWM is a time
sensitive project enacted by Congress to update the Emergency Radio
Nets, involving 250 embassies located throughout the world. LMR
equipment includes base stations, tone remotes, receivers, mobile
radios, and handhelds which must have Mobile Data Communication
signaling, Digital Encryption Standard capability, UHF/VHF, and narrow
bandwidth 12.5/25KHz programmable. Currently, the DoS is processing a
new procurement action to replace this contract. Firms with any
