The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) with GigaOptics for a femtosecond laser with the following critical specifications: 1) Ultrashort-pulse mode locked Ti sapphire laser with wavelength coverage from 750-900nm, (-30dB). 2) Combination of shortest pulse width and simultaneously the highest repetition rate. a) Pulse width less than 25 fs. b)Pulse repetition frequency up to 3 GHz. 3) Spectral bandwidth greater than 100 nm. 4) Output power greater than 600mW assuming pumped by 8W of 532nm single frequency pump power available. 5) Ability to modify laser to control pulse repetition rate and mode frequency. 6) Single spatial mode. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned.
