The Navy intends to solicit and negotiate a contract on a sole-source basis to acquire Phase III Multi-Channel Interface Unit (MCIU) production and support. The MCIU is a subsystem of Tactical Air Operation Module AN/TYQ-23(V)4. An option will be included for an additional nine MCIU's. Standard Industry Code 3577 applies to this procurement. The intended sole-source contractor is Litton Data Systems, 29851 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills, CA 91376. It is anticipated that a firm-fixed-price, supply type contract will result. This procurement will be conducted on a sole-source basis in accordance with the statutory authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1. The basis for restricting competition is the duplicative costs that would accrue to the Government to utilize any other source's product. Final inspection and acceptance will be at destination.
