VA DIABETES RESEARCH JOURNAL VA Puget Sound intends to negotiate a sole source purchase the Supplemental Issue of the journal "Diabetes Care" which emphasizes diabetes and diabetes care within the VA system. Special articles address the following areas: (1) Diabetes in the VA; (2) Veterans receiving care for diabetes and the VA services received; (3) VA data resources; (4) DM lower extremity ulcers and amputations; (5) CAD/Stroke; (6) Health care utilization and economic impact; (7) renal disease; (8) eye disease; (9) patient self-management; (10) long term care; (11) diabetes results from ACQUIP study; (12) quality improvement efforts; (13) diabetes research in the VA; (14) VA diabetes guidelines -- a risk stratification approach; (15) findings from the National Cost Containment Center; and (16) validation of a diabetes quality of life instrument. The purchase of this journal was defined and authorized under the specific protocol of an approved grant proposal and is supplementary to ongoing scientific research. No solicitationdocument exists; this notice is for information purposes only and is not a request for bids. Alternative products will be considered only if responding with clear and convincing evidence that they provide the described areas of information necessary to meet the Research Department's approved protocol.
