and stainless steel plate. Seals shall be molded under pressure and
heat. The bond between the noprene and metal shall be capable of
withstanding 39 psi tensile stess using ASTM D 429 test method B.
Stainless steel plate shall be of continous lenghts. The neoprene
strips shall be molded in convenient lengths, if necessary, and shall
be step molded or but spliced together by vulcanizing to obtain the
minimum continuous lenghts shown on the drawings. The stainless steel
backing plate for the seals shall be AISI type 304 or316 conforming to
ASTM A240. The exposed surfaces shall be passivated after all
