W. Dea, C.W.DEA@larc.nasa.gov. NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for
Quotation (RFQ) for Preventative maintenance and emergency service for
two Siemens D5000 X-ray diffraction systems (Government-owned). The
service contract shall be the Bruker "Parts Plus" type which shall
include the following: Parts coverage, shipping, telephone support, two
on-site visits, and operator maintenance training for new users of
existing equipment -- Period of performance: 1 year This procurement is
being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP).
NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from Bruker AXS Inc. The
authority for other than full and open competition is 10 U.S.C.
2304)(1), only one responsible source. There is no other source that
has the product servicing rights from Siemens Analytical X-Ray Systems,
Inc. and only Bruker AXS Inc. has access to complete design drawings
needed for servicing the complex electronic instruments. The Government
intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested
firms have 15days from the publication of this synopsis to submit in
writing to the identified point of contact, their
qualifications/capabilities. Such qualifications/capabilities will be
used solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct
this procurement on a competitive basis. Responses received after the
15 days or without the required information will be considered
non-responsive to the synopsis and will not be considered. A
determination by the Government to not compete this proposed effort on
a full and open competitive basis, based upon responses to this notice
is solely within the discretion of the Government. All responsible
sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An
