The following specifications are required for the NIDDK Microarray Facility. 1) must be a microscope based and not CCD camera based system; 2) must be two-color fluorescence detection with lasers formatted specifically for Cy3 and Cy5 excitation; 3) emission filters must be specific for Cy3 and Cy5 emission spectra; 4) simultaneous scan for both wavelengths in under five minutes; 5) 10 micron resolution scanning; 6) 16-bit digitization; 7) output must be TIFF formatted files; 8) sensitivity better than 0.5 fluor/square micron; 10) on-the-fly PMT adjustments with real-time feature imaging; 11) accepts standard (1 x 3") microscope slides; 12) laser cooling system; 13) simple SCSI connection and 14) computer with software program for analysis of array data.
