Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20857 66 -- CONSOLE UPGRADE FOR AMX 500 NMR SPECTROMETER SOL A62453-00-99
DUE 092799 POC Paul Scarborough, Contracting Officer, (301) 827-7168
The Food and Drug Administration intends to purchase a Bruker Avance
500 Console or equal. The console upgrade is to replace a current
Bruker AMX500 and will interface seamlessly with the probes, and
current computer (SGI) in use. The upgraded spectrometer will be
integrated with the existing 300 MHz spectrometer so that the lab will
use a standard set of pulse programs and parameters. It is crucial
that both the 500 MHz and 300MHz be nearly identical so that the
scientists can use the same pulse programs and parameters on both NMR
spectrometers. The console upgrade shall include the following: at
least a 28 shim system; a new upper shim stack, which enables high flow
rates for VT gases; a digital lock control unit with digital lock
freqency generation, a digital lock frequency generator, fast field
adjustments, a microprocessor-controlled lock regulation system with
low noise, high-precision shim control boards; a double-width 19" rack
mounted, fr shielded cabinet; on 100 Watt 1H/19F linear array
amplifier for 1H/19F pulse and homo/heteronuclear 1H/19 decoupling (100
Watt pulse and 25 Watt cw power; 8 Watt linear and 0.8 Watt ultra
linear stages, all operations undr computer control with total dynamic
excitation range greater than 120dB); three linear broadband
amplifiers for X-nucleus pulse and decouple with ultra-fast blankingand
rise/fall times (300 Watt pulse power, up to 30 Watt linear cw, all
operations under computer control); multilink preamplifier, including
1H, 2H, and BB preamplifiers, Control unit and built-in tune and match
display; quadrature detection receiving with an intermediate frequency
of 451MHz; a router for automated high-speed configuration of rf
signals; a deuterium lock switch for deuterium decoupling and lock
switching; communication control unit with 100 MHz RISC microprocessor
16MB buffer memory, a dedicated ethernet link (10Mbit/sec); a timing
control unit, with ultra-fast VME pulse programmer to achieve timing
with 12.5 ns resolution; five frequency control units for generation of
phase amplitude and frequency, which use direct digital synthesis, and
have a phase settability of 0.05 degrees and a frequency resolution of
0.001 Hz, as well as an amplitude shaping unit; a gradient control unit
interfaced to the VME bus for simultaneous control of three magnetic
field gradient channesl with real-time generation of gradient shapes;
a receiver control unit interfaced to the VME bus for acquisition of
NMR data with oversampling and digital filtering, providing greater
than 18-bit effective dynamic range; a receiver upgrade to DQD; a
gradient amplifier upgrade to one which is fully and seamlessly
interfaced with a digital NMR system and where the preemphasis is
adjustable by software; a variable control unit with accuracy of 0.01
degree C; a precooling and stabilizing accessory for ultra-precise
temperature control; two tuitions to training courses, a complete set
of system documentation; a complete installation by qualified
personnel, to be completed in the purchaser's lab within 10 business
days of dismantling the old console, which shall be not longer than 8
months after the order of the console is placed. The new console shall
meet specs equivalent to those met by the most recently installed
Avance spectrometers in the Structural Biophysics Laboratory, NHLBI,
NIH, except that the pulse droop on spin-lock pulses will be no greater
than 3%, and the probe lineshape, linewidth, and sensitivity specs for
the triple resonance three axis gradient probe will be matched to
specs the time of delivery of that probe. Payment terms will be 20%
upon delivery and 80% upon demonstration of specs in the users lab.
This procurement is being awarded in accordance with FAR Subpart 13.5.
