Civilian Community Corps, Western Region is a component of the
Corporation for National Service intends to award a contract to
qualified vendors to provide box lunches for trainees send directly to
communities that request their assistance.The people who will be
eating the prepared box lunches are between 18 and 24 years old, from
diverse ethic and cultural backgrounds from all over the United States.
Box lunches are to be prepared in accordance with a 11 day cylce menu
which is to be developed and agreed upon by both the contractor and
A*NCCC. The cycle menu will consist of two separate menus: one for
regular meat/poultry entrees and another for vegetarian entrees. The
cycle menu will be reviewed by A*NCCC once every two months, or more
often as the situation dictates. Lunches are to consist of an entree
(usually a full-sized sandwich consisting of meat or equivalent
situated between two regular loaf-size slices of bread, or 6" submarine
style roll or equilvalent), a side salad, a snack, a fruit, a desert
entree, and a canned/bottled beverage. The regular sandwich or meal
selections woll consist of roast beef, ham, Canadian bacon, salami,
chicken breast, turkey breast, tuna, and any other deli -prepared meat
or poultry. The vegetarian sandwich or meal will consist of
appropriate fresh vegetables, fruits, vegetable/garden burgers, pasta,
rice, etc. A vaariety of freshly baked and healthy bread selections
will be used for the sandwich. Examples of acceptable of side salads,
snacks, and desserts are potato salad, pasta salad, fresh gruit salad,
cole slaw, grandola bar, fruit bar, pastries, ships, pretzels, trail
mix, cookies, pie and other healthy choice food items. Acceptable
examples of fresh fruit include but are not limited to a banana,
orange, apple, pear and grapes. The sandwich entree is to be prepared
ready to eat and individually wrapped, except when vegetable relish and
other condiments will make the sandwich soggy in which case the
vegetables should be in a separate container. Condiments (e.g.,
individual packets of mayonnaise, mustard, salt, pepper, etc>) will
also be provided along with disposable eating utensils and large
luncheaon paper napkins. the beverage drink will be delivered "chilled"
and consist of assorted sodas (min 12oz),fruit juices (min 12 oz), and
commericial bottled drinking water in 16 oz. or larger disposable
containers. all items included in a full meal discussed above (except
the drink) will be contained in a disposable brown paper bag. Brown bag
lunches will be delivered to the campus in groups of approximately 15
lunches placed in an insulated container ("cooler") or similiar
container (to be provided by the vendor) to keep the food and drink
fresh and chilled. Deliveries will be taken at the loading dock in the
back of building 175, situated at the corner of Dewey Road and Truxtum
Road within the Naval Training Center site in the Point Loma section of
San Diego, Ca. A*NCCC will provide instructions in advance concerning
the number of and the manner how the box lunches and drinks will be
delivered. A week's worth of orders are faxed to the selected vendor
usually on the Thursday prior to the week deliveries are required. (an
estimated average of 300 box lunches a week is required to be
delivered in 5 to 6 separate coolers.) Box lunches shall be delivered
at or or befor 7:00 AM Monday through Friday at A*NCCC Western Region
campus, 2650 Truxtum Road, Bldg, 175, San Diego, Ca 92106. There may be
some infrequent requirements on weekends. The contract will be for one
year. Historicall, vendors have provided this ervice to NCCC at a cost
