The Library of Congress intends to issue a delivery order against an existing Basic Ordering Agreement to renew subscriptions with the American Chemical Society, Chemical Abstracts Service for the continued use and access of their STN International database by the US Environmental Protection Agency, Information Services Section, Washington, DC. (EJEV), and NIH, National Institute of Diabetes, Digestive and Kidney Diseases, Bethesda, MD. (NIAM). STN International, an online scientific and technical information network, dedicated to meeting the information needs of scientists and information professionals throughout the world. STN provides a complete collection of in-depth databases in science and technology with quick, direct links to literature, patents, and catalogs. STN is operated by the Chemical Abstracts Service, a division of the American Chemical Society, in North America; FIZ Karlsruhe in Europe; and the Japan Science and Technology Corporation, Information Center for Science and Technology in Japan. STN searchers have access to over 200 of the world's best scientific and technical databases from database suppliers in many different countries. STN offers information in a variety of areas including chemistry, medicine, engineering, mathematics, physics, geology, biotechnology, pharmacology, health and safety, energy, materials science, government regulations, business, and petroleum. STN's bibliographic structure, numeric, and fulltext databases, are all searchable using the Messenger command language. With STN, searchers can log on to host computers and quickly be connected to the scientific or technical databases of their choice. Cross-file researching, current awareness, or SDI searching are all available. Services will be continued through September 30, 2000.
