notice as required by FAR; previous notice was 10/12/99. The
successful Contractor shall furnish all labor, material and equipment
necessary to remove and dispose of twenty-six existing vertical slide
gate structures and install new replacement sluice gates, including
gate frame, gate leaf, gate leaf seat, gate stem, gate stem guide, gate
stem pedestal support and handwheel. Construction for this project is
expected to begin March 1, 2000, and be completed no later than April
15, 2000. The period of performance is 45 calendar days. The existing
slide gates, which are to be removed, are mounted to existing concrete
"kettles". Each pond is equipped with one kettle which acts as a drain
structure for the pond. A single slide gate in each kettle is used to
maintain and lower the water surface in each pond and allow complete
draining of the pond when not in service. Each pond will be drained
prior to the start of construction. The Contractor will be responsible
for removal of any water which may be left standing within, or
adjacent to, the kettle structure, to allow proper access to the gate
area. The site of the work is at the Gavins Point National Fish
Hatchery. The hatchery is located approximately three miles west of
Yankton, South Dakota. The Contractor will be responsible for providing
bid, payment and performance bonds. The Government Estimate is between
$100,000 and $250,000. This project is open to both large and small
