The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) contemplates issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for implementation of the Ridge to Reef Activity. A five -year performance based Cost Plus Award Fee contract is contemplated. The contractor will provide technical assistance and award small grants to Non-governmental and Community-based Organizations. This Activity will contribute towards the achievement of the Mission's environmental strategic objective: "increased quality of key natural resources in areas that are environmentally and economically significant." The Activity will focus mainly on two intermediate results, "increased adoption of environmentally sound practices," and "adoption of policies for improved environmental management." It deals with environmental problems and opportunities in ridge and lowland areas of selected watersheds in Jamaica that negatively impact on the coastal zone.
