The principal components of the work to be performed under these specifications include the following: Earthwork for exposing approximately 70-feet of the existing Syar Tunnel Pipeline and tunnel portal area. Demolition for and removal of approximately 38-feet of the existing 102-inch-diameter Syar Tunnel Pipeline. Furnishing and Installing one 7.25 X 9.25-feet slide gate and transitions. Furnishing and installing of approximately 10-feet of 102-inch-diameter, steel line pipe between the existing 102-inch-diameter steel line pipe and the slide gate transitions. Furnishing and placing backfill and compacting backfill about the pipe and tunnel portal area. Construction of the slide gate reinforced concrete encasement and concrete control house. Constructing access road and service yard with gravel surfacing. Furnishing and installing one hydraulic control system for the 7.25 X 9.25-feet slide gate. Furnish and installing piping, valves and air valves. Furnishing and installing heating and ventilation system. Furnishing and installing equipment and materials for complete electrical system. Design, furnish and installing bulkheads for diversion of Syar Tunnel and isolation of Sixth Water Aqueduct. Design, furnish and installing bulkheads for diversion of Syar Tunnel and isolation of Sixth Water Aqueduct. Install 20-inch stainless steel piping system in crown of strawberry Inlet Tunnel and to gate shaft and existing connecting tunnel. Make connection of new by-pass piping to existing 24-inch by-pass piping line and terminate new by-pass piping in existing connecting tunnel to Strawberry. The work is accessed through Syar Tunnel and the control gate work area. The Syar Tunnel is 6.2 miles in length. Make needed repair to Strawberry Tunnel and access road to facilitate movement of equipment and materials to install the piping. Final cleanup of pipeline and tunnels. Estimated price range of job falls in the step between $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. Bid performance, and payment bonds will be required. Work is under SIC Code 1629. Contract performance is to be complete in two schedules: Schedule 1 -- 4/1/01, Schedule 2 -- 5/30/01. All responsible sources may submit proposals which will be considered for award.
