&LocID=251. E-MAIL: Zalma Ross, zalma.ross@uspto.gov. As a result of
questions received from offerors, PTO is providing the following
answers: 1) Question: How will the USPTO evaluate the systems life of
the subsystem(s) being proposed? Answer: System life for the storage
subsystem is not a factor in the evaluation process. 2) Question:
Specify the Gbytes of storage that are needed for temporary and log
files versus index files? Answer: PTO will not specify the mix of
storage sizes for temporary, log, and index files. The proportions are
expected to change over time as software changes are made, and as new
search databases are added to the system. A solution specifically
optimized for the current sizes of temporary, log, and index files
would not be adequately flexible to meet PTO's requirements. 3)
Question: Is the proposal page limitation of twenty (20) pages
specified in the CBD Solicitation apply only to the "Technical and
Functional Capability section? Answer: Yes, the 20 page limitation is
inclusive of the Technical and Functional Capability sectiononly. All
other written responses to this requirement are not included in the
20-page limitation. 4) Question: Is the fax number stated correctly for
the Point of Contacts ( Gail Strickland and Joan Hanicak)? Answer: No,
The correct fax number is (703) 308-5484. 5) Question: Is the PTO
Technical Reference Manual, posted on the web, a current description of
the PTO's disk storage environment? Answer: The PTO Technical Reference
Model, as listed in the CBD, is posted on the web and can be found on
the web site listed in the CBD notice. 6) Question: What are the proper
forms to fill out in the format of the official
RFQ(solicitation/rfq/contract type forms)? Answer: The CBD provided
CLINs in which the offerors shall provide pricing information. The
offerors shall provide past performance references and
technical/functional information in a format of their choice in
accordance with the requirements described for solicitation number
52-PAPT-01004. 7) Question: Could PTO explain the statement on the
first page of the CBD notice " Each individual disk component (without
mirroring or RAID) must support a workload of at least 50 input/output
operations per second in a non cached environment with utilization kept
under 30%." Why is this necessary if the vendor is willing to meet or
exceed the total overall subsystem performance? Posted 12/06/99
