The Volpe National Transportation Systems Center has a requirement for two (2) new or reconditioned gondola rail cars and an option for two (2) additional gondola rail cars. The gondola rail cars shall have a 56 1/2 inch wheel gage, a minimum capacity of 100 tons, and shall be mounted on two (2) four-wheeled freight trucks. Minimum inside length shall be nominal 56 feet with approximately five (5) feet high sides and ends. The contractor shall provide all material, labor, and equipment to provide new or reconditioned gondola rail cars; test, deliver, and warranty them. The gondola rail cars shall be delivered to U.S. Army, Red River Army Depot, Texarcana, TX, within 270 calendar days from the contract award date. Detailed specifications and minimum requirements will be set forth in the solicitation. The solicitation will be issued on or about December 27, 1999. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rates to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,000.
